Respect key for Bok hookers

Cape Town - Adriaan Strauss says his relationship with fellow Springbok hooker Bismarck du Plessis is one based on mutual respect.

The two former Grey College pupils have developed a fierce rivalry for the Springbok No 2 jersey, with Bok coach Heyneke Meyer often rotating them in Tests this year.

Strauss, in an interview with the My Players website, said this rotation policy is "going quite well" as they know exactly where they stand with the coach

He also conceded that it's important to manage players during a long season.

Strauss (27) said he's known Du Plessis (29) for a long time - from the days when the Sharks hooker was his Old Boy in hostel at Grey College - and that they have mutual respect for each other both on and off the field, which leads to "good healthy competition".

The duo, along with WP hooker Scarra Ntubeni, were included in Meyer's 32-man squad for Tests against Wales, Scotland and France next month.
