Cape Town - Handré Pollard's Junior Springbok team-mate, Jesse Kriel, says Pollard is currently the best flyhalf in South Africa.
The two played together for the Baby Boks in the recently completed IRB Junior World Championship (JWC) in New Zealand, where Pollard captained the Baby Boks to a runners-up spot, after they lost 21-20 to England in the final.
Pollard, 20, was named IRB Junior World Player of the Year following the tournament, and will this weekend make his senior Springbok debut against Scotland in Port Elizabeth.
Kriel - who played outside centre in the JWC final, believes Pollard deserves all the praise he gets.
"Along with my brother Dan (who played wing for the Baby Boks), I'm very good mates with Handré," Kriel told the MyPlayers website.
"We've spent a lot of time together since arriving at the Bulls and Handré has grown so much over the past few years.
"His all-round ability makes him the best flyhalf in South Africa at the moment. He was outstanding and inspirational at the Junior World Championship, and I'm sure he'll fit right in at the Boks.
"Seeing him play Test rugby at this stage of his career inspires the other Junior Springboks to work hard, so we can feature next to him soon."
Saturday's Test at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 17:00 on Saturday.
