Durban - According to Rugby365, JP Pietersen has suffered a hand injury in the Sharks' loss to the Chiefs is in doubt for the Rugby Championship.
Pietersen had been included in coach Heyneke Meyer's Springbok squad for the Rugby Championship.
Meyer was confident 'most' of his players would be fit for the opening Rugby Championship Test against Argentina, but confirmed that they had yet to assess the extent of JP Pietersen's injuries.
"We had a medical report on the Sharks players and most of the players are fit to go," Meyer said on Saturday.
"We are a little bit worried about JP Pietersen, but we'll assess the situation once the Sharks are back.
"They did scans in New Zealand [on the hand injury].
"Most of the [Sharks] players will be fit. Sometimes it takes a day or two to see how badly injured the players are."
Other injury concerns were Eben Etzebeth, whilst injured Springboks not considered for selection were: Bjorn Basson, Juan Smith, Schalk Burger, Heinrich Brüssow, Bandise Maku and Coenie Oosthuizen as well as Stormers eighth-man Duane Vermeulen.
Meyer will also be wary in picking some Sharks for the earlier games of the Rugby Championship opener after their grueling Super Rugby campaign.
