Jean: Positive feedback on injury

Cape Town - Springbok captain Jean de Villiers believes he is on track to recover in time for this year's Rugby World Cup.

De Villiers suffered an horrific knee injury against Wales in Cardiff late last year and is in a race against time to be available for the showpiece event in England and Wales.

But De Villiers, who turned 34 on Tuesday, remains hopeful that he'll have enough time to prove his fitness before the event starts on September 18.

"It's been 11 weeks since I underwent the operation and I'm pleased with how I'm recovering," he told Netwerk24.

"If everything goes according to plan, then I'll hopefully be in a position to stake a claim for a place in the World Cup squad."

De Villiers was however reluctant to give a specific date on when he expected to be ready.
