Stormers' Jones hungry for more game time

Cape Town - Scotland centre Huw Jones is confident that he is fit for his side's Six Nations opener against Ireland.

The athletic centre had a breakout season last year for the Stormers as well as Scotland but then injured his foot which hampered his meteoric rise to stardom.

Jones now feels he is ready to pull on the royal blue once again against Ireland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

"I was injured for a bit after the Argentina game so I had some time off after December," Jones told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I went back to Cape Town and took care of my injury and started pre-season with the Stormers at the beginning of January. I did that for three weeks before coming into the Scotland squad.

"I am confident I'm ready and the coach has confidence in me."

Jones says that he is aware that his lack of game time might be an issue, but that the only way to rectify that is by playing games.

"Even though I haven't had the same match practice as everyone else, I do feel fit.

"The only way you can get match fitness is by playing matches so I need to start at some point and I do feel fresh."
