Scotland call for back-up after WP Nel injury

Edinburgh - Scotland have added Murray McCallum to their squad ahead of Saturday's Six Nations clash against Ireland at Murrayfield as cover for WP Nel.

Tighthead prop Nel, an Edinburgh team-mate of McCallum, suffered a calf injury during Scotland's opening 33-20 win at home to Italy last weekend.

Glasgow hooker Fraser Brown has also returned to Gregor Townsend's national squad as he continues his recovery from a knee injury, with Warriors team-mate and fellow hooker Grant Stewart now heading back the other way.

Exeter forward Sam Skinner has returned to the English Premiership club for assessment on the ankle injury he suffered against Italy.

Scotland will face an Ireland side looking to bounce back from a 32-20 defeat by England in Dublin last weekend that ended the Six Nations champions' hopes of back-to-back Grand Slams.

Both the Scots and the Irish are due to name their teams on Thursday.
