Sharks hooker off to Toulon

2013-10-14 07:11

Paris - South Africa hooker Craig Burden was signed by European champions Toulon on Sunday as cover for the injured Sebastien Bruno, the French Top 14 club has announced.

The 28-year-old, who has played at the Sharks since 2006, could make his debut in the Heineken Cup next weekend.

Bruno, 39, hasn't played since September 14 when he featured in the Top 14 game against Castres.

So the Toulon Barbarians have signed all the has-beens. So they are now targetting the never-will-be's?

      Jackson Ross - 2013-10-14 09:43

Suppose they'll be targeting you then...

      Louise Taylor - 2013-10-14 10:00

Stay in Oz Chris, cauase you are an idiot

      Chris In Oz - 2013-10-14 11:07

Louise, Craig Burden has not achieved much. He does not have the prospect to achieve much either. He played 1 minute in a CC final that the Sharks won, and that is the sum total of his achievements. He has been signed by a club as cover for their regular hooker. A never-will-be. And you want to call me the idiot. Please don't try to emigrate to Aus. Your lack of intelligence will prevent you from being granted a visa. Jackson, no, I'm not a rugby player, chop! You didn't realy think your comment through, did you?

Uhm, Christopher, did you watch yesterdays match? Toulon vs Glasgow?

      Chris In Oz - 2013-10-14 13:22

And your point being? Glasgow would probably lie in the bottom half of the Currie Cup First Division if they played in SA.

Craig has been very loyal to the Sharks over the years, probably to his own detriment. Being behind Smit, Bismarck and now Cooper has not done his career any good. I really wish him well and hope he gets regular game time at Toulon.

      Chris In Oz - 2013-10-14 11:08

      And now, behind Bruno. Whaaaahahahaha.

the sharks : all happened last week : pay millions of $$$ for Jake .... they play all their Boks ... they allready sell tickets for the CC final @ the Sharks Tank .. they organise parties for the final etc .... then BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

      Terry Burne - 2013-10-14 09:11

Don't count you chickens too soon Quota - the Sharks might still be hosting the final! Anything can still happen in the semi-finals - the only team who knows they won't be hosting the finals, are the Lions!

Toulon will soon have be a Overseas based Springbok side, Craig burden has proven himself pretty well at the TANK. At a meagre 28, quiet sadly i doubt theres a major chance for him entering the Springbok squad especially with the competition of Bismarck DP and Adriaan Strauss. We will miss Craigie @ the tank, but i pray He makes His mark at Toulon.

What boggles the mind is that you even for a split second considered mentioning Burden and the Bok team in one sentence.

Don't like him, but FFS South Africa start looking after your players!!!

  • Robertdavid - 2013-10-14 16:36

I am amazed that he was as loyal to the Sardines for so long. They stuffed him around most of the time.
