Soyizwapi hat-trick sees Blitzboks into Singapore Sevens SF

Cape Town - Despite tournament ending injuries to captain Kyle Brown and speedster Rosko Specman, the Blitzboks are through to the semi-finals of the Singapore Sevens after beating Kenya 24-12.

The Blitzboks opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with Siviwe Soyizwapi getting over the whitewash for an unconverted try and 5-0 lead.

South Africa increased their lead in the 5th minute with Heino Bezuidenhout scoring an unconverted try after shrugging off a Kenyan defender with ease.

Soyizwapi had his second just a minute later with Cecil Afrika adding the extras for a 17-0 lead at half-time.

Kenya were finally on the scoreboard at the start of the second half thanks to Collins Injera with Samuel Oliech adding the conversion to bring the score to 17-7.

But Soyizwapi was not to be denied his hat-trick with the South African speedster crossing for his third try in the 10th minute after he was put away by Selvyn Davids.

Afrika added the conversion for a healthy 24-7 lead.

Kenya had the final say with a try on full-time but the Blitzboks once again proved how much depth there is in their setup this season.

They will now play Fiji in the semi-final at 10:50 (SA time).
