It was another disappointing tournament for the Springbok Sevens side, who lost 14-12 to Fiji in their fifth-place semi-final match.

The Blitzboks were earlier eliminated 29-10 by the USA in the Cup quarter-finals and also struggled on the opening day, most notably being held to a 5-all draw by lowly Chile.
Las Vegas champions USA have four players in the Dream Team - Carlin Isles, Martin Iosefo, Steve Tomasin and Ben Pinkelman - while the remainder of the team includes New Zealand's Sione Molia, Fiji's Jerry Tuwai and Samoa's David Afamasaga. The USA beat Samoa 27-0 in the Cup Final and currently lead the overall standings with a five-point advantage over the All Blacks Sevens.
