South Africa won 21-14 after the teams were locked at 7-7 at half-time.

South Africa were quickest out the blocks, keeping France under early pressure deep in their half but the French defence held out admirably.

Then France upped the pressure, spending the next few minutes camped in the Blitboks half and at one point even been held up across the line by a determined Blitzbok defence.

That pressure eventually told in the 5th minute when Marvin O'Connor crashed over in the left hand corner for the first try of the semi-final. Jean Pascal Barraque added conversion and with France leading 7-0, South Africa knew they had a fight on their hands.

South Africa remained composed, however, and managed an important score well after the half-time hooter had sounded when Ruhan Nel crashed over after some brilliant work by Seabelo Senatla.

Justin Geduld added the conversion as the two teams went into half-time locked at 7-all.

The Blitzboks were first to score after the break when JC Pretorius threw an outrageous dummy from the base of ruck that fooled the whole French defence, allowing him to canter over under the poles for a converted score and a 14-7 lead with five minutes to go. '

Bliztbok captain Siviwe Soyizwapi secured victory with a minute left after brilliant play by Rosco Specman set him up for a long-range converted try.

France managed a consilation converted try through Jonathan Laugel long after the final hooter had sounded but it was a case of too little, too late.

South Africa will now face either New Zealand in the final of the tournament after they easily beat Fiji 24-7.

The final kicks off at 18:56.
