Blitzboks breeze past Canada

Cape Town - The Blitzboks got their London Sevens weekend off to a winning start with a comfortable 21-7 victory over Canada on Saturday.

Ryan Kankowski scored the first two tries for the Blitzboks, who took a 14-0 lead into half time.

The second half saw just one more try scored by Neil Powell's men through Francois Hougaard.

Canada did score a consolation try after the hooter, but by then the match was already over as a contest.

Cecil Afrika looked in fine form with the boot by slotting all three of his conversions, two of them from difficult positions.

The Blitzboks are next in action at 14:42 on Saturday when they take on the USA in their second group match before ending the day with a clash against Samoa at 17:48.
