Cape Town - The Blitzboks are back on track at the Paris Sevens after beating Russia in their second pool match on Saturday.

South Africa, who need to win this tournament to stand any chance of defending their Sevens World Series title, emerged as 21-19 winners having gone into half-time at 14-14.

It is a result that South Africa desperately needed to stay alive in the tournament having earlier gone down 14-12 to Scotland in their tournament opener.

The Blitzboks looked to be out of the tournament when they found themselves 19-14 down before Seabelo Senatla scored in the final moments of the game.

Dewald Human kicked the conversion as South Africa, somehow, stayed alive in the tournament.

South Africa will now take on Canada in their final pool match at 18:30 (SA time).
