Afrika cracks nod for Las Vegas Dream Team

Cape Town - Blitzboks speedster Cecil Afrika was the only South African included in the Dream Team for the USA Sevens in Las Vegas this past weekend.

The Springbok Sevens side finished fourth after losing 26-22 to Fiji in the bronze final.

The South Africans had earlier lost 12-10 to Argentina in the Cup semi-finals.

But there was some consolation for Afrika, who was included in the Dream Team for the event.

Champions USA had three players - Perry Baker, Ben Pinkelman and Danny Barrett - while the rest of the team comprised of Matias Osadczuk (Argentina), Jerry Tuwai (Fiji) and Luke Morgan (Wales).

Despite a disappointing finish in Las Vegas, the Blitzboks extended their overall lead in the World Rugby Sevens Series standings.

They are now 10 points clear of second-placed New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the draw for the Canada Sevens, to be played at BC Place in Vancouver this weekend, was also made.

South Africa will play in Pool D and will face Russia, Scotland and New Zealand.
