Cape Town - Former Blitzbokke coach Paul Treu has been confirmed as the new head coach of Kenya's sevens team, while Vuyo Zangqa will leave his post as South Africa's assistant coach to join Treu.

Kenya Rugby confirmed the news via their Twitter account on Monday morning:

Goodmorning! Joining #Kenya7s technical bench

1. Paul Treu - coach

2. Vuyo Zangqa - deputy coach

3. Graham Bentz - skills and conditioning coach

Treu, 42, vacated his position as Springbok Sevens coach in August and was recently replaced by Neil Powell.

Treu was appointed as Blitzbokke coach in 2004 after representing the team from 1999 to 2002 at sweeper and later as captain.

As coach he led the team to the Sevens World Series title in 2008/09 and won 14 tournaments on the circuit.

He coached the team in three Sevens Rugby World Cups and took them to bronze at the Commonwealth Games in India in 2010.

With Zangqa also joining Treu in Kenya, South Africa would need to find a new assistant for Powell.
