New Zealand into Dubai semis

Dubai - Defending champions New Zealand are on pace to reach the final of the Dubai Sevens after Tomasi Cama scored two tries in a 28-7 win over upstarts Portugal in their quarterfinal on Saturday.

New Zealand, which opened the season by winning the Gold Coast title, will next face Kenya which downed Canada 19-7. In the other quarterfinals, last year's finalist France scored a late penalty to beat Fiji 8-5 while Samoa swept aside Wales 19-7.

England, which was looking for a third straight Dubai title, continued its bad run with a 24-14 loss to Argentina in the Bowl quarterfinal.

Portugal struck first against New Zealand to take an early 7-0 lead. But its defensive style could not resist New Zealand which scored four consecutive tries.
