Fiji down Blitzbokke

Cape Town - The Blitzbokke have lost their Cup quarter-final match against Fiji at the Wellington leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Fiji won 21-5 after the scores were locked at 0-0 at half-time.

The South Africans took the lead early in the second half when Cornal Hendricks scored 44 seconds after the restart.

However, when Boom Prinsloo was sent to the sin-bin after three minutes the Islanders capitalised on their numerical advantage.

They scored three tries via Nemani Nagusa, Osea Kolinisau and Emosi Vucago.

Metuisela Talebula converted all three scores to break the South Africans' hearts.

The Blitzbokke will now go into the Plate competition where they will face Canada in the semi-finals.

Canada earlier lost their Cup quarter-final in extra-time when Lolo Lui kicked a penalty for Samoa.
