Fans turn on Boks

George - The Springbok Sevens squad were verbally abused by a small group of fans shortly after their 19-10 loss to England in the Cup quarter final of the Emirates Airline George Sevens on Saturday.

The national team were making their way off the field when a group of South Africans, wearing All Black jerseys, started shouting insults at them.

The players did not react to the vulgar language that was used.

Later the afternoon, the Boks will face Wales in the plate semi-final (kick-off is at 16:38).

If they do not secure victory, it may very well be their last performance in George as the rights to host the South African leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series is being contested by the cities of Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Rustenburg and Nelspruit.
