Ebersohn: PE could suit SA

Cape Town - Robert Ebersohn, who's back in Super Rugby training, believes home ground advantage could be vital for the Blitzbokke this weekend when the Sevens World Series visits Port Elizabeth.

Ebersohn played for South Africa in Australia and Dubai over the past two weeks but has since returned, as planned, to join the Cheetahs in their 2012 Super Rugby preparations.

Despite their below-par effort over the last fortnight - they claimed third spot at the Gold Coast in Australia and lost in the Plate final in Dubai - Ebersohn believes the current format could suit South Africa as most of the top teams are now on tour for a third week in a row.

"It's definitely a weapon that we have in PE (Port Elizabeth). All the players were really excited when I left and it is the first time that we will be playing in PE," he told the Volksblad newspaper.

"It's also the first time that there are three tournaments at the beginning of the series.

"All the other big teams, bar Australia, are on tour for a third week in a row now and that's tough.

"Our guys are playing at home and I hope and believe they can use it to their advantage.

"The encouragement that the Blitzbokke have to play in a final in front of their home crowd is enough to perform well," said Ebersohn.
