Cape Town - The Springbok Sevens side set up a final against New Zealand at the USA Sevens in Las Vegas after beating Samoa in the semi-finals on Sunday.
South Africa won a thrilling game 12-7, scoring the winning try in extra time after the scores were deadlocked at 7-7 after regular time.
Cornal Hendricks gave the Blitzbokke an early lead when he went over in the corner, with Branco du Preez superbly converting for a 7-0 lead.
However, Samoa hit back with a try from Tulolo Tulolo, with Patrick Faapale converting with an equally impressive kick to level matters.
Both sides had chances but the game ended with the scores level before young 20-year-old Seabelo Senatla scored the sudden-death try to put South Africa into the final against New Zealand - themselves 19-14 extra-time winners over Fiji earlier.
The final between the two arch-rivals will take place at 00:25 (SA time) on Monday morning.
