Cape Town - The Blitzbokke have taken another step in their quest to win the Tokyo Sevens title with a 26-0 win over Kenya on Saturday.

Justin Geduld scored the only try of the first half as Neil Powell's men went into half-time leading 7-0.

The second half continued to be a war of attrition as both teams were forced into errors, which gave rise to the stuttering nature of the match.

However, some enterprising interplay led to Kwagga Smith crossing the whitewash midway through the second half to extend the Blitzbokke's lead as the Kenyans continued to weather the pressure.

The win was sealed thanks to a tries by Chris Dry with Rosko Specman as the Blitzbokke ran out comfortable winners in the end to place them firmly atop Pool C.

Earlier, the Blizbokke opened their campaign by defeating Canada 29-7 as Seabelo Senatla bagged a hat-trick of tries.

Their final pool match is scheduled to take place at 11:58 against the USA.

Scorers:

South Africa: 26 - Tries: Justin Geduld, Kwagga Smith, Chris Dry; Rosko Specman Conversions: Cecil Afrika (2), Branco du Preez
