Blitzbokke, USA share spoils

Las Vegas - The Springbok Sevens team were held to a 19-all draw by the United States at the Las Vegas Sevens on Saturday.

The South Africans trailed 19-14 before a late try by Warrick Gelant levelled matters. The Blitzbokke then had a chance to snatch victory at the death, but a knock on out wide ended the contest.

Despite the draw, South Africa still topped their group and safely progressed to the quarter-finals, along with the Americans.

On the first day's action, the South Africans defeated Portugal (19-0) and Japan (42-5).
