Burger to play for Baa-Baas

Cape Town - The Barbarians have announced that Springbok loose forward Schalk Burger will play for them when they tackle Fiji in November.

Burger, 30, has been sidelined through injury and illness since the start of last year but looks likely to make his return against the Island nation.

Burger has been slowly working his way back to fitness since he was hospitalised earlier this year after contracting bacterial meningitis following surgery to drain a cyst near his spinal cord.

He is currently training with the Western Province Currie Cup squad but it's still uncertain if he'll feature for them in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Baa-Baas also confirmed the inclusion of Springbok captain Jean de Villiers in the team that will be coached the All Blacks' Steve Hansen.

The Baa-Baas confirmed the news via a series of tweets on Wednesday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
