According to the IRB website, the appointments were made by the IRB Match Official Selection Committee at its meeting in Dublin and follow a detailed review of recent performances during a busy November international window.

Joubert is one of only four referees who will take charge of two games. The others are Wales' Nigel Owens, Frenchman Jérôme Garcès and Australia's Steve Walsh.

The Six Nations kicks off on February 1 and concludes on March 15.

Joubert will referee the Test between Ireland and Scotland in Dublin on February 2, as well as the one between England and Ireland in London on February 22.

Peyper will referee the game between France and Italy in Paris on February 9.

The South African duo will also be assistant referees at other matches in the tournament, with compatriots Stuart Berry and Lourens van der Merwe also named as assistant referees in two Tests.
