Nyakane fit and ready for Springboks' RWC opener

Cape Town - Springboks tighthead prop Trevor Nyakane is available for their Rugby World Cup opener against New Zealand on Saturday, September 21.

The Springbok management confirmed the news on Sunday after Nyakane sprained his knee during South Africa's 41-7 win against hosts Japan in their warm-up last week but is expected to be fit for the All Blacks.

Nyakane played only 14 minutes before coming off.

The 30-year-old returned to South Africa on Saturday to be with his wife for the birth of their child this week. Nyakane is expected to return to the Springbok camp in Japan on Friday.

Nyakane has 41 Test caps to his name and will be competing in his second Rugby World Cup.
