Frans Steyn to return to Bloemfontein in 2020

Cape Town - Springbok utility back Frans Steyn has confirmed he will return to South Africa next year.

The two-time World Cup winner, who currently plies his trade at French club Montpellier, told Netwerk24 that he intends to return to Bloemfontein in June next year when his tenure in France ends.

Steyn, who first made waves as a rugby player when he attended Grey College, has a house in the "city of roses" and he and his wife Linca intend to continue their lives there.

"We want to raise our children here (Bloemfontein) because we want them to experience the same upbringing my wife and I had when we grew up," he said while on a short holiday in the city.

While Steyn intends to focus on his farming business, it's unclear whether he may end his playing career with a stint at the Cheetahs.

The 32-year-old played his 67th Test for the Boks when he came on as a substitute in the 32-12 Rugby World Cup final win over England in Yokohama earlier this month.

Steyn told Sport24 earlier this week that he was not sure whether he would play in the green and gold jersey again.

"I don't know ... I'll have to wait and see," he said.

He is the second South African after Os du Randt to have won two Rugby World Cups.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
