All Blacks lead praise for world champion Springboks

Cape Town - They have a fierce rivalry on the field, but off the field there is great respect between arch-rivals the Springboks and All Blacks.

That respect was evident again on Saturday after South Africa thumped England 32-12 in the Rugby World Cup final.

It was the Springboks' third World Cup title which drew them level with the All Blacks for most Webb Ellis Cups won.

The All Blacks were quick to congratulate their rivals though, posting on Twitter after the game:

"Our fiercest rival on the field, but always a friend off it. Congratulations to @Springboks on winning the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Enjoy every moment."

England, to their credit, also heaped praise on the Springboks, posting: "Well played @Springboks Congratulations on your third @rugbyworldcup win."

Other nations like Australia, Wales and Scotland also congratulated the Boks.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
