Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Jake White says he wants to make himself available for the position of coaching the national side again.

This comes after current Springbok coach Peter de Villiers said after the Boks were eliminated from the World Cup on Sunday he probably won't remain in his current post.

"It was a brilliant journey. There's a time to come and a time to go and I think the journey for me is over," De Villiers told AFP.

And according to Monday's Cape Argus, White is eager to reclaim his old post.

White coached the Springboks at the 2007 World Cup in France when they won the tournament.

“Being at the World Cup (in New Zealand) and experiencing the tournament has re-ignited my desire to get back into international rugby,” White told the Argus from Auckland on Sunday.

“I’d like to make myself available for the Bok job.”

White has only recently started his tenure with Australian Super Rugby franchise, the Brumbies, but is nevertheless still keen for the South African job.

“The last time (2008) I was told I didn’t get the job because I didn’t apply for the position, and I want to make sure that South Africans know I never turned my back on Springbok rugby and that I have always wanted to be a part of it.

“Whenever the job officially becomes available, I’ll definitely put my CV in.”
