Cape Town - Each day the Sport24 team will select the best Performance, worst performance (or Plonker) and the best Picture to come from the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

In today’s “PPP” Francois Hougard has won the Performance award for his excellent display against Namibia, while a Springbok supporter bearing an apartheid era South Africa flag has been chosen as the Plonker and a picture of Bryan Habana sprinting towards the try-line for his record breaking try was selected as the best image.

Performance: Francois Hougard

Several members of the Springbok team which played Namibia put in good performances, but Hougard was the best of the bunch.

The Bulls’ utility back started the game at scrumhalf and his quick, crisp service from the base of the ruck ensured that his team retained momentum and gave the Namibian defence no time to settle.

Hougard also kept the Welwitchas’ defence honest with several sniping runs, and later in the match, when he was shifted to wing to make way for Ruan Pienaar, he broke through the first line of Nambian defenders on several occasions.

The flyer finished the match with two tries and made a serious case for selection in the team’s bigger games.

Plonker: Unknown Springbok fan

The Sport24 team have voted in an unknown Bok fan as the plonker for wearing an old South African flag (see article picture).

The image was Tweeted by Supersport presenter Xola Ntshinga (@Crouchtouch) and seems to have been taken at the game between Namibia and South Africa.

The picture was accompanied by the words “(Sic)Worst moment of my Rugby World Cup experience so far...the idiot with the flag. Don't need your support bud!”
