Rugby World Cup: Injury watch

Cape Town - An update on the Rugby World Cup players who are currently suffering from injuries with estimates on when they will return to the playing field.

Quarter-final 1:

Ireland:

Rory Best - Shoulder injury, doubtful for selection against Wales.
Jerry Flanery - Torn calf muscle, ruled out of the rest of the World Cup.

Wales:

None.

Quarter-final 2:

France:
Fabrice Estebanez - Received three match ban for dangerous tackle against Tonga, subsequently missing the rest of the tournament.
David Skrela - Damaged shoulder, out of the rest of the tournament.
Nicolas Mas - Hamstring strain, has been ruled out of the the last two pool matches and may return in the quarter-finals.

England:
Jonny Wilkinson - Forearm injury, doubtful for selection against France.
Mike Tindall - Dead leg, doubtful for selection against France.
Andrew Sheridan - Shoulder injury recurrence, ruled out of the tournament.
Matt Stevens - Ankle injury, was not named in the team to face Romania on Saturday, September 24.
Nick Easter - Back injury, unknown recovery time.

Quarter-final 3:

Australia:

Drew Mitchell - Hamstring strain, ruled out of the tournament.
Wycliffe Palu - Hamstring tear, ruled out of the tournament.
Pat McCabe - Dislocated shoulder, expected only to return during the latter stages of the tournament.
Scott Higginbotham - Back injury, unkown recovery time.

South Africa:
Francois Steyn - Shoulder injury, ruled out of the tournament
Bakkies Botha - Recurrence of Achilles tendenosis, unknown recovery time.

Quarter-final 4:

New Zealand:
Dan Carter - Groin injury, ruled out of the tournament.
Ritchie McCaw - Foot injury, expected to be available for selection for q
Richard Kahui - Hamstring strain, ruled out for their match against Canada on October 2.

Argentina:

Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe - Knee injury, unknown recovery time.
Gonzalo Tiesi - Damaged Knee ligaments, ruled out of the tournament.
Julio Farias Cabello - Hamstring injury, did not face Romania.
