Place of birth: Windhoek, Namibia
Height: 1.82 m (5 ft 11.65 in)
Weight: 117 kg (15 st 6.05 lb)

Rohan Kitshoff is one of few full-time professionals in the Namibian squad and the stocky flanker will an important part of the team’s Rugby World Cup campaign.

Kitshoff was born in Windhoek Namibia, but grew up in the Western Cape and attended primary school in the west coast town of Vredenburg and high school at HTS Drostdy in Worcester.

The 26-year-old started has provincial rugby career at Western Province, but couldn’t break into the first team and moved to Griquas, where he became a regular in the starting line-up.

However, following the withdrawal of the Springboks from the Currie Cup for the Tri-Nations and a glut of injuries in the Province pack, Kitshoff found himself back in Cape Town and in the blue and white hoops of the Western Province first team.

Kitshoff’s stout, 1.82 meter, 98 kilogram frame give him the perfect proportions for his ball oriented style of play and his determined displays at the break-down had begun to make him an key cog in Western Province’s push for a first Currie Cup title since 2001 when he left to join the Namibian world Cup team.

The forward’s style of play means he is the perfect foil for fellow flanker and Namibian team captain Jacque Burger, who focused his energy on making bone crunching tackles, powerful carries and clearing out rucks.

The fetcher flank started the World Cup with only five caps for Namibia and five points to his name, courtesy of a try scored against Spain.

But despite his inexperience, Kitshoff’s skills as a fetcher will be key to Namibia’s push for their first Rugby World Cup victory and respectable scores in all of their games.
