Cape Town - Springbok great Bakkies Botha has sent a touching message of support to injured All Blacks loose forward Sam Cane.
Cane broke a bone in his neck during Saturday's 32-30 Rugby Championship win over the Boks at Loftus.
As a result, he has had to remain in South Africa to undergo surgery while the rest of the All Black squad has returned to New Zealand.
The injury could have been a lot worse, but Cane is still facing around an extended period of rehabilitation and will about for at least three months.
Botha was one of many to offer his support to Cane, with team-mate Sonny Bill Williams as well as former Bok captain John Smit offering their thoughts.
"To @AllBlacks Sam Cane and his family all the best with full recovery, a true warrior of the game who still has lots to give to this amazing game," Botha wrote on Twitter.
"Stay strong Champ. Don’t worry World class doctors to look after you around Loftus for a world class player. Stay strong."
