Kolbe excited over potential Bok debut

Cape Town - Cheslin Kolbe is delighted with his call-up to the Springbok squad ahead of their Australasian leg of the Rugby Championship.

Kolbe was a surprise selection in Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus' squad for the trip to Australasia and the 24-year-old could make his Test debut off the bench against the Wallabies in Brisbane on Saturday.

Kolbe currently plies his trade for French club Toulouse where he plays either wing of fullback.

He stated that getting his Bok call-up has left him with a lot of confidence and is eager to prove himself in the green and gold.

"Obviously by coach Rassie including me in the team gives me a lot of confidence. He sees potential in me and I just hope I get the opportunity to play," Kolbe told The Athlete sports blog.

"I have been watching their game plan and I'm excited to fit in and join up with them. I feel it's an environment in which I will be able to express myself and will also gain a lot of experience from this."

Kolbe also revealed that some of his Super Rugby knowledge with the Stormers could put him in good stead.

"Yes, having played against most of those players at Super Rugby level does give me confidence. However, all I can do is to do my best for the team and make the most of the opportunity if it comes my way," he said.

The Springbok team will be name early on Thursday morning (SA time).
