Cape Town - Springbok loose forward Marcell Coetzee is fit once again and started for Ulster in their 15-13 win over Scarlets on Saturday.

It is undoubtedly good news for Bok coach Rassie Erasmus as he continues preparations for next year's Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Coetzee has had a woeful run of injuries over the past three years and he had played just five matches for Ulster in two full seasons.

He arrived at the club from the Sharks in 2016 with an ACL injury and has undergone two more surgeries since then, but on Saturday he got through 54 minutes in the No 6 jersey before being substituted.

While the priority for Coetzee now will be staying fit and getting minutes under the belt, he will surely become an option for Erasmus on the end-of-year tour if he shows some good form between now and then.

Now 27-years-old, Coetzee has 28 Test caps to his name and last played for the Boks in 2015 against Argentina in Durban.
