Cape Town - Australia superstar Israel Folau remains adamant
that he will not waver from his opposition to same-sex marriage, despite
worldwide criticism.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald website, Folau, a devout Christian, has spoken to the media for the first time since sending out a tweet on September 13 which read:"I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions. but personally, I will not support gay marriage."
Despite the huge media backlash, especially with sporting bodies across Australia supporting the gay marriage, the fullback told reporters, ahead of the Mendoza Test against Argentina, that his beliefs on the issue hadn't changed.
Folau also revealed that he has not been impacted by the storm the post created at the time.
"I’m going to stand firm on what I’ve already said - that’s what I believe," Folau said.
"That's what I believe. I guess it doesn’t change anything for me and my mindset is still first-hand with what’s going on here with the Wallabies.
"It hasn't really had an effect on me at all, so I stand firm on what I believe in and what I said," he added.
