Dyantyi explains 'gift' pass to wing partner Mapimpi

Durban - Aphiwe Dyantyi is going from strength to strength in a Springbok jersey, and he further enhanced his ever-improving reputation with a man-of-the-match display against Argentina in Durban on Saturday.

The 23-year-old scored a brace of tries at Kings Park and looked dangerous every time he got the ball, with his electric pace and strength in contact making him a handful for the Argentinean defence.

It could very easily have been a hat-trick for the Lions star, but there was a moment in the 52nd minute where he gifted team-mate Makazole Mapimpi a try instead.

With Argentina on the ropes, the Boks had created a massive overlap out to the right.

The ball went through the hands and found its way to Dyantyi, who looked a certainty to go over for what would have been his third try of the evening.

Instead, he played one more pass to Mapimpi, who made no mistake and finished off.

It was a selfless act, but speaking after the match Dyantyi was not making a fuss about it at all.

"I felt he was in a better position to score, so I gave him the ball to score," he said.

"For me the most important thing is us getting the result. It doesn't help if I score 50 tries and we lose all of those games. If I can score two tries in 20 games and we win all of those games, that's more important for me than becoming the top try scorer."

He has only played in four Test matches, but Dyantyi already has three tries to his name.

"I think with the senior guys around me, they keep motivating me to keep improving on myself," he said.

"I think the guys are gelling really well, considering that we've only played three games under coach Rassie (Erasmus). I think every day we just keep on building."
