The Boks won 27-25 thanks to a late 55m penalty from replacement flyhalf Patrick Lambie.
It was the Boks' first win over their bitter rivals since 2011, but wasn't enough to prevent the All Blacks from lifting the Rugby Championship trophy.
General consensus post-match was that the Boks were deserved winners, and All Blacks coach Steve Hansen was gracious enough to mention as much.
However, when reading the NZ Herald's player analysis of the match, one would think Richie McCaw men had in fact WON the match!
Bok No 8 Duane Vermeulen was the official man-of-the-match, but only received a rating of '5.5' - significantly lower than his direct opponent, Kieran Read, who was awarded a '7'.
Other curious ratings include Handre Pollard (7) overshadowed by Beauden Barrett (7.5) and Francois Hougaard (6) outperformed by Aaron Smith (6.5).
When one tallies the total ratings for the starting XVs of both sides, one gets 82 for the Springboks... and 95 for the All Blacks!
