Steyn vital in four-try quest

Cape Town - Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer believes flyhalf Morné Steyn will play a key role in their quest to claim a four-try bonus point win against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Saturday.

In order to win the Rugby Championship, South Africa must beat New Zealand with a four-try bonus point and at the same time prevent the Kiwis from getting any bonus points themselves.

Meyer believes Steyn has improved his attacking game and is running better lines close to the gain line.

"Morné's worked on his game and we've made a few tweaks and he's certainly taking the ball flatter than before and attacking the line," Meyer told the Cape Times.

Meyer also said the fact that Fourie du Preez is there makes it easier for the pivot. "The ball's also coming out quicker. So once that's sorted out, then you can work on better running lines at 9 and 10 and you create more options for your flyhalf. Morné's obviously a key guy for us this weekend," continued Meyer.

Kick-off is at 17:00 on Saturday.
