14:12 - This must rate as one of the best ever Springbok performances, especially given the fact that we had never beaten Australia at Suncorp Stadium. This must be used as a stepping stone for the future. It will be much tougher against the All Blacks in Auckland next week, but with this performance we are in with a real shot at Eden Park!

14:12 - WHAT THE FANS SAID

13:57 - QUOTES

"Australia were tactically inept. It was like they were trying to play touch rugby. They have no front row, no leadership and poor coaching," says in-studio pundit Nick Mallett.

"That was close to the perfect performance. I can't see any daylight for Australia because they can't scrum," says in-studio pundit Naas Botha.

"The forwards laid the platform for us. It's still not the complete performance but we can't ask for a whole lot more. To score four tries against Australia in Australia is amazing," says Bok skipper Jean de Villiers.

13:50 - Another lineout won by South Africa as they set up one final maul. Clancy stops play and it's GAME OVER: South Africa beat Australia 38-12 and are on top of the Rugby Championship table!

13:49 - Lambie puts the Boks close to the Wallaby 22m area with a brilliant touch kick. 90 seconds left and most parts of Suncorp Stadium is dead quiet due to a shell-shocked crowd...

13:47 - All the Springbok replacements are now on with less than four minutes remaining...

13:44 - The Bok scrum remains dominant as they force another penalty to bring more relief...

13:43 - More woes for the Aussies as Adam-Ashley Cooper drops the ball close to the Bok tryline...

13:42 - James O'Connor nearly scores for the Aussies as he chases his own kick but Willie le Roux beats him to the tryline to bring relief. Attacking lineout for the Wallabies though.

13:41 - TWEET

Yessir, this is one for the annals! Boks don't break the bogey, they shatter it into pieces - Rob Houwing

13:39 - It's all South Africa now and as SuperSport commentator Matt Pearce says: "Australia are in tatters."

13:39 - Steyn CONVERTS. Aus 12-38 after 69 minutes. It's definitely now GAME, SET and MATCH.

13:37 - Another TRY!!! Willie le Roux flies down the right-hand touchline to grab the bonus point for South Africa. Incredible stuff from the Boks.

13:36 - It's now important that the Boks go and chase the four-try bonus point!

13:36 - Steyn CONVERTS from the touchline. Aus 12-31 SA after 66 minutes.

13:34 - TRY!!! Zane Kirchner dives over after a brilliant backline move. The ref wants to check if he grounded it perfectly though. But the try is awarded! Take that and that and that, Kirchner will say to his critics...

13:33 - HAVE YOUR SAY

Heyneke Meyer popping veins in celebration like pills. #RUGBY - iamjonnyking™

13:32 - The Boks win a penalty on half-way after Etzebeth or should I say "Ysterbeth" wins a penalty on the ground. Attacking lineout coming up now...

13:30 - It's strange to see Steyn missing a few kicks at goal. 29-12 would have been game-set-and-match by now... but it's nevertheless a promising situation at 24-12...

13:27 - TRY! Jean de Villiers goes over after a brilliant backline move from the Boks. Habana chip-kicked on the wing and then Kruger handled brilliantly to set it up his skipper who ran a brilliant line! Steyn misses a tough conversion but after 60 minutes the Boks lead 24-12!

13:24 - BOK CHANGES AFTER 57 MINUTES

Gurthrö Steenkamp on for Beast Mtawarira, Juandré Kruger on for Flip van der Merwe and Adriaan Strauss on for Bismarck du Plessis.

13:23 - A dangerous Australian attack ends when Lealiifano knocks the ball on inside the Springboks' 22m area. Relief but the Boks are starting to play on the back foot a little now...

13:22 - Australian penalties coming thick and fast...

13:21 - TWEET

What a top game of rugger this is.. End to end entertainment!! #ausvsa - Kevin Pietersen

13:19 - Lealiifano kicks the PENALTY. Australia 12-19 SA after 52 minutes.

13:17 - Another TMO review. Australia receive a penalty after Flip van der Merwe obstructs the field. The crowd wants another sin-bin but it's rightfully just a penalty on half-way.Good to see that the crowd is not influencing the referee's judgment.

13:15 - Steyn kicks the PENALTY and the Boks lead 19-9 after 50 minutes.

13:14 - It's only YELLOW though and Hooper is off for 10 minutes. Steyn will line up for three...

13:13 - Penalty at a scrum for the Boks. Ruan Pienaar takes a quick tap and passes to Bryan Habana who is then is tip-tackled by Michael Hooper. The ref asks for the TMO to have look... This should be a red card!!!

13:11 - Boks destroying this Wallaby scrum #powerandtechnique - Ashfak Mohamed

13:10 - Another dominant scrum brings relief for the Boks who now kick into the Australian half after receiving a penalty.

13:06 - Lealiifano kicks the PENALTY. Aus 9-16 SA after 43 minutes. Amazingly, Lealiifano is now 22 from 23 in Test rugby as a place-kicker...

13:05 - The Aussies force a penalty from right out in front...

13:03 - Disastrous start for the Boks as Steyn poorly attempts to catch a high ball. Willie le Roux has to dot down behind his own goal-line. Attacking scrum five metres out for the Aussies...

13:03 - And we're underway in the second half as the Wallabies kick off...

13:03 - FANS HAVING THEIR SAY AT THE BREAK

Pienaar a little slow...but not too bad. Ref and the O'Connor foot decision was shocking... - Craig Nesbitt

How can some people be complaining about Ruan?? He has been excellent..guess they Blue Bulls fans... - Marc Christensen

Boks having a great game. Ref not so good - Brahm Koekemoer

Niknaks (Kirchner) and Pienaar doing great ,way better than expected, well done boys well done - Derick Homan

13:01 - PICTURE

The Springboks celebrate Coenie Oosthuizen's first-half try (Gallo Images).

12:57 - It's clear the Springboks are playing the right game, utilising the correct kicking tactics and playing the game in the right side of the field. Our scrums are also looking good which bodes well for the second half. I do feel we need to lower our penalty count though, as the talented Australian backs will create some scoring opportunities if given enough ball to work with. But I see us sneaking a first win over the Wallabies at this ground...

12:55 - QUOTE

"The Boks are playing the right way with their kicking game. Australia are playing very poorly, trying to run from everywhere. The Bok defence is also very good," says in-studio commentator Nick Mallett.

12:54 - HAVE YOUR SAY

Bokke playing a nice controlled game. Stellar defence too!! #goBokke - Irene Nel

12:51 - HALF-TIME: Australia 6-16 South Africa

12:49 - Bismarck du Plessis drops the ball close to the Australian line after brilliant breaks from Ruan Pienaar and Willie le Roux. The Wallabies run it out from their own line but concede a penalty. Steyn can stretch SA's lead on the stroke of half-time... He lines up from close to the touchline but misses away to the right to end the first half...

12:48 - TWEET

Flo immense so far - Rob Houwing

12:46 - YES!!! The Boks force a penalty as the hosts fluff an opportunity to get back to within seven points. Commentator Bob Skinstad agrees that Wallaby skipper Genia made the wrong call.

12:44 - But the Boks concede an immediate penalty from the ensuing kick-off. Australia opt for a attacking lineout. They should have opted got posts in my view!

12:44 - Steyn kicks the easy PENALTY from in front. Aus 6-16 after 35 minutes.

12:43 - Brilliant penalty won on the ground by Francois Louw gives Steyn a chance to stretch the Springbok lead.

12:41 - FISTY CUFFS

Tempers boil over after the Boks demolish the Australian scrum. Nothing serious though. But relief as SA get a free kick after Genia throws in skew at the scrum...

12:39 - Another penalty conceded by South Africa. SIX in total now! Attacking lineout for the hosts just outside the Springbok 22m area...

12:38 - TWEET

Boks may not have a better chance of winning in Oz. Wallabies strangely flat-footed and not enjoying the dumptruck Bok forwards - Clinton van de Berg

12:37 - Steyn kicks the PENALTY from in front and the Boks lead 13-6 after 29 minutes.

12:36 - Penalty for South Africa as Steyn misses a drop goal. Another three points coming here. But seriously, Ruan Pienaar needs to sharpen up on his service. He halted a great attacking move inside Oz territory there...

12:33 - O'Connor catches the kick-off with a foot in touch. It looks like he took it in-field before stepping out, decision goes against SA. But luckily the Boks escape with a free kick form the ensuing scrum...

12:32 - It's simple for the Boks from here on in: Improve your discipline or else...

12:31 - PENALTY by Lealiifano. Aus 6-10 after 22 minutes.

12:30 - Jeepers! Another penalty conceded. Skipper Jean de Villiers not rolling away in a tackle. Easy three points coming...

12:29 - The Wallabies have an attacking scrum on the Springbok 22m area after 20 minutes...

12:28 - Jannie du Plessis is now back on for try-scorer Coenie Oosthuizen. Great little cameo from the Cheetahs prop who notched his first Test try. Alberts also back on after his yellow card.

12:25 - A Bryan Habana intercept brings relief for the Boks after the Aussies ferociously attack the Springbok line... Pienaar kicks up-field but the Boks are penalised for going off-side...

12:24 - Both teams conceding a lot of penalties early on in this game...

12:23 - TWEET

Jeez Clancy ... Way to ruin a game buddy ... You do know we are here to watch the p,ayers and not you? 3-10 - Front Row Grunt

12:21 - Steyn CONVERTS! Aus 3-10 SA after 13 minutes.

12:20 - Will Genia off-side at a scrum which will give Steyn an opportunity to get the Boks into double figures. He lines up from about 45m out...

12:18 - A silly error from Alberts could cost SA dearly, but it may be a bit of a hard call from the referee this early in the game? Send us your views at: news@sport24.co.za

12:17 - Easy PENALTY for Christian Lealiifano. Aus 3-7 SA after 9 minutes.

12:16 - ALBERTS SEES YELLOW

Oh no. Willem Alberts is sent to the sin-bin for 10 minutes after a deliberate knock-down...

12:15 - Oosthuizen's try was a perfect example of great refereeing. The fact that he asked "can you give me a reason not to award the try" the TMO had to agree. Had he just asked "try or no try" then it may not have been awarded...

12:14 - Steyn kicks the easy CONVERSION. Aus 0-7 SA after 6 minutes.

12:11 - Coenie Oosthuizen is over the line after a great driving maul! It looks like a try but ref Clancy wants to check upstairs. He asked the TMO "can you give me a reason not to award the try" so the TRY stands!

12:11 - Boks get an attacking lineout five metres out after Steyn kicks a MONSTER penalty.

12:09 - Prop Coenie Oosthuizen is on for Jannie du Plessis - only a temporary blood substitution though.

12:07 - A good start from the Boks who attack the Australian 22m line, but unfortunately Flip van der Merwe is penalised for diving into a ruck.

12:06 - Australia win the first aerial battle is Israel Folau takes his first high ball.

12:05 - Morné Steyn gets play underway...

12:04 - All is set now for what should be a cracking game. Can the Boks break their losing duck at Suncorp Stadium? Send us your thoughts to: news@sport24.co.za

12:01 - The players will now line up for the national anthems...

11:59 - Jean de Villiers leads his charges out...

11:57 - It's perfect conditions at Suncorp Stadium. Players call it the "fastest pitch" in Australia which is not ideal for the Springboks one feels. The wet conditions in the All Blacks' earlier Test would have suited us more - therefore a big defensive effort is required from the Boks today, especially in the backline...

11:49 - REFS TO MAKE OWN TMO CALLS

Referees in the Rugby Championship are now able to make their own ‘TMO calls’ from big screens in stadiums. Up until now, referees were permitted to make only foul play decisions based on their viewing of the big screen.

But from today they will be permitted to make all decisions relating to the current TMO protocol from the big screen. This recommendation was made by a meeting of the IRB's Law Review Group in Dublin earlier this week.

A good call! The TMOs in recent weeks proved that they can get things wrong time and time again. Lets hope Ireland's George Clancy gets things right in this game!

11:42 - CAMPO BOOTED FROM SUPERSPORT STUDIO

Good old David Campese is in the news fro the wrong reasons again. He has been removed as a rugby commentator by SuperSport after making derogatory comments about a Pakistan-born Australian cricketer.

Campese lashed out at spin bowler Fawad Ahmed after he received permission from Cricket Australia to not wear a beer company logo on his uniform due to his Muslim faith.

I think it's a good move by SuperSport as Campese has previously upset me with comments he made in favour of Australasian teams against South African Super Rugby teams - and that while he was employed by SuperSport! Campo has never been the same since Pieter Hendriks's hand-off saw him flying to the Newlands turf in the 1995 Rugby World Cup opening match...
