Boks look to Le Roux for spark

Cape Town - Springbok fullback Willie le Roux has been urged to play his natural attacking game when the Boks tackle Argentina at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

According to backline coach, Ricardo Loubscher, the Boks will be out to up the ante on attack against the Pumas, with Le Roux hopefully providing the spark.

Le Roux had an outstanding Super Rugby competition for the Cheetahs and was duly rewarded with a spot in the Bok team for the three Tests in June.

While he made a few mistakes, he did add an extra attacking dimension and Loubscher wants to see him build on that in the Rugby Championship.

"He's such a versatile player, and we need to make sure we create opportunities for him," Loubscher said in an interview with the Cape Times.

"He's the kind of guy who must play it as he sees it, and he's the one who must make the decisions on the field. There's a massive focus as a backline to attack as a unit. When we do that, we create confidence among the players.

"Our focus is to score tries, so there's a big emphasis on our counter-attacking play. The key thing is that we need to be prepared when those try-scoring opportunities arise, and that means the players must show composure at all times," continued Loubscher.

The Boks will name their team for Saturday's clash later on Wednesday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
