Baby rules Steyn out of Argentina trip

Cape Town - Flyhalf Morne Steyn has been ruled out of the Springboks' trip to Argentina next week as his wife is due to give birth.

The Boks are due to play the Pumas in a non-championship Test at the Estadio Jose Amalfitani in Buenos Aires on Saturday, August 15 at 21:40 SA time.

The Test will also be the Boks' final run-out ahead of the Rugby World Cup starting on September 18.

The fact that Steyn won't be available means that he won't have played any Test rugby in 2015, giving coach Heyneke Meyer something of a headache.

Should Meyer's first-choice pivot Handre Pollard succumb to injury, his back-up in the position - presumably Pat Lambie and Steyn - will have played little to no rugby at No 10 in some 12 months, certainly not an ideal situation.

Steyn confirmed on his Instagram account that the family were expecting a second son to be born in the coming days.

This man can't wait for his little brother!!#comingsoon #love #LaLi'sPhotography
