Ref Jaftha to make Test debut

Cape Town - Highly-rated South African referee Jason Jaftha will make his Test debut later this month, the South African Rugby Union announced on Monday.

Jaftha, 27, is one of a team of SARU officials who have been appointed to a trio of matches in Namibia in November.

Jaftha makes his debut on 14 November in the match between Zimbabwe and Spain in Windhoek. He will also serve as an Assistant Referee in the other two matches in the series.

Experienced test referee Marius Jonker takes charge of the other two matches in the series while Tian Jonker concludes the SARU team. 

The full list of appointments is as follows:
10 November: Namibia vs Zimbabwe – Referee:  Marius Jonker (SARU). ARs: Jason Jaftha (SARU); Tiaan Jonker (SARU).

14 November: Zimbabwe vs Spain – Referee:  Jason Jaftha (SARU). ARs:  Jackie Husselmann (Namibian Rugby Union); Tiaan Jonker (SARU).

17 November: Namibia vs Spain – Referee:  Marius Jonker (SARU). ARs: Jason Jaftha (SARU); Tiaan Jonker (SARU).
