Cape Town - MJ Mentz has been appointed as head coach of the Pumas for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Mentz was earlier this month named as Pumas coach for the upcoming Vodacom Cup, but the head coaching position for the Currie Cup was still up for grabs.

However, the Pumas on Monday decided to appoint Mentz for the entire 2015 season.

He replaces Jimmy Stonehouse, who left the Pumas earlier this year to coach the Toshiba Brave Lupus in Japan.

Mentz, a former Blitzbok, was Stonehouse’s assistant and has now been trusted with the head coaching role for the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup.
