Pretorius tipped for Wales

Cape Town - Former Wales flank Martyn Williams has tipped South Africa-born Blues skipper Andries Pretorius for Welsh international honours.

According to the BBC website, having made his Blues debut in 2009, Pretorius is expected to become eligible to play for Wales during the 2012/13 season.

Pretorius, 26, has made 33 Blues appearances, most often at blindside flank.

"He's probably on the radar of the Welsh management," said Williams.

"We know how good he is at the Blues and, hopefully, if he stays injury free this year he'll have another big year."

Pretorious playing for Wales!!! desperation on both parts if you ask me

      pieter.thefuture - 2012-08-21 16:17

Why do you say so, do you know the player? I must admit I do not know enough about him to know if he is going to be a hero or a zero for Wales, so I will not judge him before he has had a chance.

Unless of course you are thinking of Andre Pretorious, who cannot play for wales as he has already represented South Africa and is therefore ineligible to play for any other country

@pieter.thefuture. Any player that has represented their country can play for another country provided he fulfills the citeria - citizenship, certain period of non-selection for his original country etc. Remember Tiaan Strauss, John Allen, Christian Stewart, Patricio Noriega etc.

@chris - no my friend, look at the laws again.. It used to be true that you could represent 2countries, but the rules have been changed in 2000. you cannot play for another country if you have played for the national team or the national "a" team. Check out IRB regulation 8.2

Flemjob jy moet oplet in die klas. Jy sit seker weer en slaap of iets. Botha (Slot) en (senter) van Natal wat vir Engeland speel. Dan is daar 3 Laaties vat vir Engeland se JNR span speel. So Flemjob jy sit pouse in die klas en skryf dit 100 op die bord uit vir jou straf.

      Flemjob - 2012-08-21 19:51

Ahem sorry to point this out guys, but none of these guys are shining. They are simply playing for another country. Do you understand the difference?

      mike.barmby - 2012-08-21 20:01
