Cape Town - Springbok and Sharks utility back Pat Lambie and long-time girlfriend, Kate Symons, have become engaged.
According to Beeld, Lambie, 22, asked for Symons’s hand in Durban on Tuesday.
Annelee Murray, the head of the publicity and administration for the Springboks, confirmed the news.
“Pat is very excited and he said he can’t wait to be married," said Murray.
“Pat and Kate are so cute and they make the loveliest couple. Both are very shy."
Lambie confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Thursday, writing: She said YES! Must have been the view?! Thanks for all the tweets. #sealedthedeal
Symons recently completed her degree in human movement science at the University of Pretoria.
Lambie is currently part of the Springboks' squad participating in the Rugby Championship. He scored a try coming on as a substitute in their 29-15 loss to the All Blacks in Auckland last Saturday.
The Boks' next assignment is against Australia at Newlands on September 28.
