Cape Town - The Southern Kings have been dealt a triple injury blow following their PRO14 defeat to the Scarlets in Llanelli, Wales, over the weekend.
Prop Schalk Ferreira, loose-forward Henry “Bakkies” Brown and scrumhalf Rudi van Rooyen are returning home to South Africa after suffering injuries in the weekend’s match at Parc y Scarlets.
Ferreira suffered a broken nose, while Brown and Van Rooyen both suffered ankle injury.
The injuries ruled the trio out for the remaining match of the tour where the Kings will face Benetton in Treviso, Italy, on Saturday.
The players will receive medical attention at home in Port Elizabeth before the touring party returns to South Africa to start preparations for their next PRO14 home match on October 26.
Replacing the injured trio on the tour is Xandre Vos, who will take the place of the prop veteran Ferreira, Stephan Greeff replacing Brown and Ruan van Rensburg, who had already arrived in Italy on Monday, is to replace Van Rooyen at scrumhalf.
