Cape Town - Two Cheetahs players are reportedly set to join the Toyota Verblitz club in Japan.
According Afrikaans newspaper, Rapport, lock Carl Wegner and utility back Clinton Swart will miss Free State’s SuperSport Rugby Challenge and Currie Cup campaigns as they will depart for Japan immediately after the conclusion of the PRO14.
Wegner has no immediate plans to return, while Swart has signed for one season, the report states.
Jake White, a former Springbok coach, is the current head coach of Toyota Verblitz.
There are already three South Africans - prop Ruan Smith, utility back Gio Aplon and flyhalf Lionel Cronje - on Verblitz’s books.
