Cape Town - Cheetahs wing Rabs Maxwane has ambitions of finishing the 2018/19 PRO14 as the competition’s leading try-scorer.
The 23-year-old had been a shining light for the Cheetahs this season and currently tops the PRO14’s try-scoring chart with eight tries.
He told Netwerk24 that he would like to finish the campaign as the leading try-scorer.
"It’s nice to go and score, especially in tough conditions. This year I’d like to get even better, I want to become a leader in my position. I want to work harder to achieve my goals and that is to be the best I can be and score more tries. I want to finish the competition as the top try-scorer," Maxwane said.
Hot on Maxwane’s heels is Ospreys wing Luke Morgan and Cardiff Blues centre Rey Lee-Lo with seven tries apiece.
Edinburgh wing Duhan van der Merwe and Glasgow Warriors scrumhalf George Horne have six tries apiece, while there are 11 players (VIEW full list) who have scored five tries. This list includes Southern Kings wing Yaw Penxe.
Maxwane and Penxe will have the opportunity to add to their tally on Friday when the Kings host the Cheetahs at NMMU Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
The Cheetahs are currently sixth in Conference A, with three wins from 11 matches, while the Kings are bottom of Conference B, with only a solitary win from 11 matches.
