Cape Town - The Cheetahs' 2017/18 PRO14 campaign ended on a disappointing note when they were thumped by the Scarlets in their qualifier clash in Llanelli on Saturday.
The Welsh side won 43-8, having led 24-3 at half-time.
The Cheetahs, who qualified for the playoffs courtesy of finishing third in the PRO14's Conference A, struggled with their away form all season and it was no different on Saturday as they conceded six tries.
The Scarlets, who won last season's PRO12 competition, now advance to an away semi-final against Glasgow Warriors in Scotland.
In Saturday's other playoff match, Irish side Munster beat Scotland's Edinburgh 20-16.
Munster will travel to the RDS Arena to face their compatriots Leinster in the semi-finals.
