The 24-year-old has been one of the standout performers for the Bloemfontein-based franchise in the PRO14 and was expected to be included in national coach Jacques Nienaber's plans for this July's home Test matches against Scotland and Georgia.
Dweba has spent his entire senior professional career at the Cheetahs, but Bordeaux-Begles announced on Tuesday that he will be joining them later on this year.
The 2019/20 edition of the French Top 14 is set to be scrapped after 17 rounds of fixtures, with Bordeaux-Begles sitting top of the current standings, eight points clear of Lyon in second.
PRO14 organisers, meanwhile, are still hopeful of a return to action this year.
The Cheetahs are currently in fourth place in Conference A just two points behind Glasgow Warriors in third and still very much in the play-off race.
