Ospreys snatch draw

Paris - Matthew Morgan hit a long-range penalty with 10 seconds remaining to help Ospreys claim a dramatic 26-26 draw with Italian club Treviso in the second round of European Cup action on Saturday.

Treviso outscored the Welsh region by three tries to two and will be disappointed not to have come away with a rare victory at continental level.

The hosts scored through prop Michele Rizzo, wing Benjamin da Jager and scrum-half Tobias Botes with international flyhalf Kristopher Burton kicking 11 points.

Tommy Bowe and Ryan Jones scored Ospreys tries, Dan Biggar booting 13 points before the 19-year-old Morgan added his late penalty.

The result saw Ospreys fail to follow in the footsteps of fellow Welsh regions Cardiff Blues and Scarlets, who recorded impressive victories over London Irish and Northampton on Friday, and also Newport Gwent-Dragons, who beat Perpignan in the Challenge Cup on Thursday.

In the same Pool 5, twice beaten finalists Biarritz posted a 15-10 victory - only their second win in what has been a disastrous season - over English champions Saracens thanks to tries from France No 8 Imanol Harinordoquy and Zimbabwe-born US wing Takudzwa Ngwenya.

After a dull first 40 minutes, Owen Farrell opened the scoring seven minutes into the second period for Saracens, but Harinordoquy scored shorty after collecting Dane Haylett-Petty's cross-field kick unopposed on the right wing.

Farrell saw a 38-metre penalty come back off the post, and James Short was on hand to bundle Ngwenya into touch with the line beckoning for a handful of teammates inside.

Julien Peyrelongue then booted a penalty as Biarritz upped the pressure before Ngwenya split a poor Saracens defence to sprint free for a superb solo try converted by Peyrelongue.

Saracens notched up a late Alex Goode try which Farrell converted to claim a losing bonus point.
